Mélanie Clapiès


Born in 1981, Melanie Clapiès began her musical apprenticeship in Toulon in the violin class of Solange Dessane, then studied with Pavel Vernikov and Christophe Poiget at the Conservatory of Lyon, Ami Flammer and Claire Désert at the Paris Conservatoire, John Glickman at the Guildhall School of Music in London. Meanwhile, she receives advice from the greatest Russian teachers at the Academy of Fiesole.

Back in London, she obtained her Certificat d’Aptitude (CA) in violin, which allows her to teach at the CRR (Conservatoire à rayonnement régional) of Toulon and the CRR of Bordeaux.

Having performed with various orchestras many masterpieces of the violin concerto repertoire, she leads in parallel a career as a chamber musician, a field that she particularly likes. She has played along with artists such as Pavel Vernikov, Bruno Giurana, Vladimir Mendelssohn, François Salque; partnerships that have taken place in numerous concerts on French scenes (Festivals de la Roque d’Anthéron, de « Bel-Air » à Chambéry, de Deauville, de Chaillol, « Musique en Roue Libre » à Arras...) and Italy (Festivals « Le salon romantique » in Palazzetto Bru Zane de Venise, « Suona Francese » in Naples, Turin and Genoa, festivals of Gubbio and Portogruaro...), as well as in also Russian and English stages. She has also been selected to perform an artistic residency at the Banff Centre for Creativity, Canada, which led her to play overseas. She is also the recipient of the Zonta Club Scholarship.

She performs regularly in duo with cellist Yan Levionnois, and within the Trio Siddhartha with pianist Patrick Hemmerlé.

Her violin is a Joseph Gagliano, 1781.
